The End of Man

Part of my Character and Object Design final. The specs were to do pretty much whatever you wanted, so I did the model sheets we spent most of the quarter working on.

My character is Kuthakwakulu (koo-tah-kwah-KOO-loo), which means The End of Man in Malawi, South Africa.

I pulled his back story out of thin air, with help from Some of it might not be accurate, but I'm taking artistic license on this one. It works for him.

Kutha's Story:

There was a villiage in South Africa, where the witch doctor prayed to know who his successor would be. All signs he recieved pointed to a simple young woman. No one agreed, of course, cause women can't be witch doctors. The Witch-Doctor was insistent that the spirits had told him this woman would be his successor, so the villagers reluctantly accepted.

Unfortunately, well into her training, the witch doctor died suddenly. The people of the village blamed the woman, saying that giving a woman such a place of power had cursed the witch doctor. They dragged her away from the village and tied her to a post, then cut her so she would bleed out. As she bled, the hyena clan in the area smelled the blood and came to feast. They ate her alive, and her haunting screams hung over the village like a dreadful mist.

Before morning, her flesh and organs had been completely devoured. It was then that the lowest member of the clan came to feed, where he would be unbadgered by the higher ranking members. All her bones had been picked clean, save for her skull, so he jumped up to grab it. As his jaws closed around it, the sun broke like thunder over the horizon, and a scream more horrible than that heard by any before pierced the morning air.

At this moment, the hyena became possessed with the spirit of the witch doctor woman. Her anger, hatred, and lust for revenge filled the weak hyena, and transformed him into a monster unlike any the world has ever seen. He became Kuthakwakulu, the end of man, and guided by the vengeful soul of the witch, he ravaged the village, until no man, woman or child remained.

He's also a touch mad....who wouldn't be, after going through something like that, eh?

Colored in photoshop, with a filter added, and colored lineart. Can't remember how long it took.......but it was done entirely on computer no drawing lineart first and scanning it

Anywho, this is mah new baby I lurv him, in all his craziness. His actual model sheets will be up soon.
