HA! I finally got to finish it!
I'm a nut for gamebirds and ducks (they're still coming up ) Some of the colors and patterns are just plain gorgeous. So they were on my giant list of "If gryphons lived in the real world..."
I love the turkey...I want to hug him...and the pheasant.....and the Prairie chicken...
But mostly the Turkey.
Top Row:
Willow Ptarmigan (winter plumage)
Northern Bobwhite
Red Grouse
Australian Bush Turkey
Ring-Necked Pheasant
Second Row:
Prairie Chicken
California Quail
Wild Turkey
Bottom Row:
Spruce Grouse
Montezuma Quail
Capercaille
Malleefowl
The feline counterparts are just generic feline body shapes with colors or patterns that worked with the base feather patterns. I put a bit of thought into it, and thought that, being ground dwelling birds who rummage for food, these gryphons would do best with short, compact paws and short, if not bobbed, tails. That way, when scurrying through any brush, they don't get their tails caught in the branches, or give away their hiding spots.
Unintentionally, the Malleefowl came out looking almost like a snow leopard in color XD
Took about a grand total of....5 and a half, maybe 6 hours? Don't know for sure, kept getting interupted
